Commission Promise

The Tenor/Horn Project is deeply committed to commissioning new works that not only expand on the repertoire for Tenor, Horn, and piano but also reflect the rich diversity of voices and experiences in our global community. We prioritize inclusivity by actively seeking out composers from underrepresented groups, ensuring that the music we bring to life is as varied and vibrant as the world around us. Through intentional outreach, partnerships with organizations dedicated to diversity in the arts, and an open call for submissions, we aim to create opportunities for composers who may not have traditionally been given a platform in western art music.

To inspire these new works, we encourage composers to explore the legacy of past masters such as Britten, Rossini, Mozart, and Bach—composers who originally shaped and inspired the identity of our ensemble. We offer resources, workshops, and collaborative sessions that delve into the techniques, forms, and innovative spirit of these composers, guiding the next great composers of our art to find their unique voice while paying homage to these foundations. By weaving together the threads of tradition and innovation, we strive to foster compositions that resonate with the diverse, evolving narratives of our time in the lens of our musical traditions.
