Who we are

The Tenor | Horn Project was born out of a partnership formed during our graduate studies in Boulder, Colorado. Driven by a mutual admiration for Benjamin Britten’s writing for tenor and horn, we recognized a shared passion for chamber music and a desire to uncover and expand the repertoire for our unique duo.

Having already performed a variety of programs together, including a new commission by composer Ben Morris and the American premiere of Normand Forget’s Winterreise after Schubert’s monumental work, we are now actively planning the next several seasons of recitals, masterclasses, and new commissions.

Our deep love for art song, collaboration, and impactful repertoire presentations fuels our commitment to this project, as does our enthusiasm for engaging both audiences and academics. Both of us have long admired the other’s musical medium—Ben is captivated by the grandeur and nuance of orchestral writing, while Valerie seeks the expressive freedom of the human voice.

Together, we strive to push the boundaries of what our individual instruments and ensemble can achieve, continuously exploring new musical possibilities.
